Friday HR Briefing: Prepare for Sweeping Workers’ Comp. Rating Changes from NYCIRB

On October 1st, NYCIRB will be implementing major changes to the workers' compensation rating system which determines employers’ Experience Modification - the primary factor for calculating WC insurance premiums in NYS. Bottom line, NYCIRB is moving towards heavily penalizing “unsafe” employers in the near future. It’s critical for employers understand and start preparing now as these changes will have widespread impact on WC insurance costs. 

Join us as Neal Cunningham, Claims Management Team Lead at Lawley, discusses these changes and steps employers can take now to prepare. Neal will also provide insight on a bill passed by the NYS Assembly and Senate and sits on Governor Hochul’s desk that re-defines temporary total disability. This would basically mean any partially disabled claimant on WC who cannot return to their job gets paid at 100%. If signed by the Governor, it will also have far-reaching impact on WC claim costs.
