3 New Exhibitions Open at RoCo!

Main Gallery = “Fire and Form” is a juried exhibition celebrating the depth, diversity, and innovation of encaustic and wax-based artists working across New York State. Hosted in Rochester, a city with a strong tradition of experimental modernism and material exploration, this exhibition highlights the luminous, layered, and enduring qualities of wax as a contemporary medium. Presented in partnership with the Working with Wax Roc/Flx group.
LAB Space = “Detour”, a new solo exhibition by Aaron Steffer, focuses his long-standing exploration of urban materials and graffiti language in a mesmerizing series of artworks. Rooted in a childhood shaped by skateboarding, painting street art, and navigating Rochester’s industrial and abandoned spaces, the exhibition is built upon the city itself.
Media Room = “Still, Moving: A Firefly Meditation” is an immersive light installation by Katharine Torgersen and inspired by summer evenings spent observing fireflies. Through illuminated painted-glass sculptures and field recordings, the exhibition transforms the space into a contemplative environment that invites visitors to slow down and reconnect with themselves and the natural world. The work explores stillness not as stagnation, but as a space for reflection, healing, and renewal.
